I am white, and if this kid had been black he would have been charged with 2nd degree murder and gotten at least 20 years! What’s wrong with this picture?

4 months AFTER killing his friend with his drunken , carelessness he gets charged again with drunk driving?? wow , Doesn’t sound like the death of his friend mattered enough to teach him not to drive drunk!! Thank goodness another person’s loved one wasn’t killed on the next time “he was caught”. How many times did he drive drunk that he wasn’t caught?
6 months in jail when another person lost their life and their family suffers a life time. This sentence makes no sense. His actions killed a man. He needs prison time. He could get AA in there.
What a loser , the court system is messed up. I bet you anything when he is set free in 6 months he will contiue to drive drunk until unfortunately he kills another person or innocent family traveling down the road.

I agree that he should be given a stronger punishment and be made accountable for his actions, but it is stupid people like you that egg on racial tension. This world will never see the day when everyone can live in harmony with idiots like you making commets on web sites like this. I don’t care if this kid is black, white, green or purple, driving while impaired is wrong and the punishment should fit the crime.

I’ll tell you exactly what is wrong with this picture….The judicial system isn’t serving up blind justice. If they were he would have been charged with 2nd degree murder no matter the color of his skin. It’s a very sad truth that African Americans are sentenced more harshly than any other race but it’s the world we live in today. I feel for the family of the child that was killed. This was an absolutely unnecessary death that could most certainly have been avoided.

It’s not just black people who get sentenced like this. I know a white man that is serving 12 years for a death that occurred while he was drinking and driving. The only difference is that there was quite a bit of negligence on the part of the driver who died. The prosecution chose to ignore those facts.

What’s going on with that Caffee family that supplied the alcohol to the kids that night at there son’s party? These parents are just as guilty and they should be thrown under the jail for partying with miners! Those parents have a lot of explaining to do to that family that lost there child due to there ignorance!! I hope the court will do something here that boy’s family need’s to see some kind of justice!!

And they are worried to death about mopeds? WTF ? I know this is off thread, but shows how “broke” the system is. Its messed up 4 sure. Gonna take a lotta ppl smarter than the ones we have that are running the so called system to fix it. We (NC) need ppl that posses at least a 6th grade level of common sense..My bad// sorry if it offended any GOV dummies..

I like to have faith in our youth and the judicial system, but this seems like a slap on the wrist. It is an insult to the family that lost their boy. Considering the subsequent violation, I would think a minimum of one year in county and 2000 hours of community service.
