WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Former UNCW star and current Full Court Press co-host Brett Blizzard is trying to expand the skills of area athletes by starting a new youth basketball league.

The league will be made up of three divisions divided by age as follows: 5th/6th grade, 7th/8th grade, 9th/10th grade and will tip off March 9th.

Blizzard says the league will be unlike any other in the Cape Fear region.

“It’s going to be a developmental league so it’s not just a league where you just show up and play this is going to be featuring skills clinics and team practices where no dads are coaching,” said Brett Blizzard. “We’re really going to try and teach kids how to play and give kids the best foundation they can give.”

The signup fee for the league is $150 which pays for team jerseys, skills clinics, and team practices.

If you’re interested in signing your child up you can contact Blizzard Athletics at (910)256-0756 or blizzardathletics.com.
