Duke mascot head shows up atop UNC bookstore

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) - If students at UNC-Chapel Hill can't get inside the heads of their rivals at Duke University, they can at least say they got inside the head of the Blue Devil mascot.

On the verge of Wednesday night's basketball game between the Tar Heels and the Blue Devils, the mascot head was reported stolen and posted above the UNC bookstore.

A spokesperson for Duke confirmed that the mascot head was stolen and found on the UNC campus. Bookstore manager Kyle McKay tweeted a picture of himself posing with the head and the text, "Cops came and picked it up."

UNC police came to recover the head, and is investigating the theft with Duke University police.
