WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports; Duke versus North Carolina. When the two met tonight we spoke to some fans that were there for all of the fun.

Fans in blue filled the seats at Buffalo Wild Wings but the real story isn’t the game, it’s the rivalry. Carolina Tar Heels of Duke Blue Devils?

The excitement filled the air and spirits were high as fans told us why their team reins supreme.

Tar Heel fan TJ Ryder said, “So much energy because the Tobacco Road rivalry, you know man. It’s been going on for so long, so many years, and Carolina is going to have the upper hand tonight.”

The rivalry even pitted one father against his son during Wednesday’s game.

Market Director for Buffalo Wild Wings, Adam Webb says it’s a great environment for fans to enjoy the game together. “Fans can come and watch Carolina and Duke play together today. Battle it out. Still have that camaraderie but still have that pleasantry of fighting over who’s team is better.”

But as expected, tensions rose as the game began with a goal from UNC but ended with the Blue Devils taking the win.
