LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Drivers in Brunswick County can expect a change in traffic patterns near Leland later this week.

The NC Department of Transportation says weather permitting, traffic on US 17 North just south of Leland will shift Thursday to newly constructed lanes of the highway. The existing northbound lanes will become a two-lane service road.

At the time of the conversion, the service road will be closed between Hewitt-Burton Road and Bridle Way to allow for installation of pipes under the existing roadway.

Residents of the Stoney Creek and Snee Farms subdivisions will be able to access US 17 by traveling south on the new service road to the crossover at Zion Church Road.

Motorists are advised to use caution in the area because of the new traffic pattern.

I just went home for lunch and found that I can’t get to my house in Snee Farm. Has anyone heard what the plan is? And will we be able to get home later today?
