WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The intersection of College Rd. and Shipyard Blvd. is back open after a crash took down a pole and traffic signals early Monday.

Police say DOT crews worked for close to 4 hours to repair the power outages caused by the crash.

According to Sgt. Warren Kennedy with Wilmington Police, a vehicle hit a power pole around midnight on Monday, bringing down wires and traffic lights at the busy Wilmington intersection.

Sgt. Kennedy says the crash impacted traffic and power outages through Monday morning, since the traffic signals ended up on the ground.

Wilmington Police were at the scene into the morning, directing traffic when DOT crews arrived around 5 a.m. from out of town to repair the signals.

After 4 hours of work, DOT crews were able to repair the signals, and police re-opened the intersection to traffic.

Sgt. Warren says traffic is now back to normal for the busy intersection.
