WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Progress Energy crews will begin removing the remaining utility poles and overhead wires in the northern section of North 3rd street Monday.

It’s all a part of the North 3rd Street Improvement Project.

Weather permitting, it will take 2 or 3 days to take down the remaining poles, since all utilities and lines have been moved underground.

Once they are all removed, the project is expected to wrap up in two to three weeks, as landscaping and street marking is completed.
