WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than a week after a customer was robbed while standing in line at a Wilmington fast food restaurant, a suspect is in custody.

Wilmington Police say the US Marshals Task Force arrested Raheem Jamil Washington last night in Surf City. Washington is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault by pointing a gun and two counts of second degree kidnapping.

The Department of Corrections website shows Washington served more than seven years in prison for multiple robbery charges. He was released from prison Feb. 3.

Just two weeks later, police say, Washington robbed a customer at gunpoint as they stood in line at the McDonald’s at Long Leaf Mall.

Washington is back in jail under $750,000 bond.

Gun control? Assault weapons ban, magazine bans, ammo bans? Why in the hell don’t we try FELON bans? I’m reading about two or three of these criminals a week in our local news. Can you imagine the state and federal magnitude of this type of situation? The government actually questions “why” most citizens want firearms for protection while they purposely allow known and violent felons like this man to freely walk among us?

Inmate Washington here happens to be the proud owner of NINE FELONY convictions…NINE!!! Four of them were for Robbery with a Dangerouse Weapon, one conviction for Armed Robbery and four more felony convictions for Larceny and Breaking and Entering. These are ALL violent crimes and weapons related. Now, he’s up again for robbing someone at gunpoint? WHY? Why isn’t he on permanent lockdown. Why was that man so rudely interrupted as he knawed on his BigMac by a Felonius criminal that wanted to steal his stuff?

Remember this folks! It isn’t the law-abiding citizens of this country that are involved in gun violence. It’s the FELONS, just like this subterranean worm that was purposely allowed back into society, MULTIPLE TIMES to wreak havok any way he wants on those law abiding citizens.

It seems the US Marshals are arresting so many people in our area lately. My question is why them and not WPD or NHSO?

Most of the Marshal’s are Police, sheriffs and Probation Officers that are sworn in by the Marshal’s to work on a joint task force to catch people like this. It is their only function catching violent criminals such as this.

Obviously — Mr. Raheeme Jamil Washington ( or whatever his real name really is ) pefers to live in a prison cell rather than on the outside. The Courts and DOC should honor his intent to return to prison by him commiting another felony crime, as haveing been just released from secure custody for merely 2 weeks. Convicted felons are a liability to a civilized society — anywhere in any country. We don’t need them loose again in the public sector, and Mr.Raheem is a classic example. Our Parole/Probation system and Politicians need to address this problem ASAP.

So what is the point of looking up his criminal background? just to have something to say right. Just be glad he got caught and be blessed that it was not any of you.

But not really. According to a news article on this sight years ago, the local agencies have been doing such a poor job for so long ( 2nd highest violent crime rate per person in the state / largest backlog of unsolved murder cases) that the NHC Sheriffs office (under Causey)was placed in oversight by the Fed Marshall’s office. They announced it as if they were working together with them. lol
