NEW YORK (AP) — USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo says he still plans to talk to Mike Krzyzewski about a possible return as Olympic basketball coach, even after the coach’s latest comments that he was finished.

Krzyzewski told ESPN Radio on Tuesday that he expected the Americans to pick a new coach this summer. The Duke coach said his stance hadn’t changed since last summer, when he said he didn’t plan to come back after winning a second straight Olympic gold medal.

Colangelo wasn’t fazed by the interview, saying he and Krzyzewski will have a discussion after Duke’s season ends next month.

Colangelo says any talk about the coaching position “has to wait for the appropriate time” and that he is prepared “either way for what the result of that discussion might be.”
