SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — The Southport Board of Aldermen hired Robert S. Gandy last night to serve as interim city manager.

This is Gandy’s second go-around as manager. He held the position as recently as 2007.

Gandy will replace Pat Thomas, who resigned unexpectedly earlier this month.

Thomas has agreed to stay on until April 16 and help Gandy get up to speed on the city’s ongoing projects.
