BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County Schools student is under investigation after the child reportedly had a knife on a school bus.

A school district spokeswoman says yesterday afternoon a Cedar Grove Middle School bus driver contacted 911 and the school to inform them a student had a knife on the bus. School administration, the school resource officer and two deputies from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately.

The student was removed from the bus without incident and no students were hurt. The bus resumed the route after about 20 minutes. The school notified parents of students on the bus about what happened.

The student, a minor, is facing several juvenile petitions along with consequences based on enforcement of the Brunswick County Schools Student Code of Conduct, according to a statement from the school district.
