Police arrest suspected serial robber

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police say they've caught who they believe is a serial robber.

Police arrested Erik Greyson Huggins, 29, early this morning for the robbery of a taxi driver at knifepoint on Eastwood Road.

Dectectives says Huggins is suspected in nine recent armed robberies.

The earliest in the string of related cases was last Wednesday morning at 3:34 a.m. An employee of the Exxon S & E #4 convenience store, 6126 Oleander Drive, reported that a man wearing a mask and showing a large butcher knife entered the store and demanded money. After allegedly getting cash, he left the store.

Police say eight more robberies were later reported, starting Friday night, with the latest one reported Monday morning. The majority of the crimes took place at hotels and convenience stores.

Huggins is being held on a $1 mil bond.
