WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A three car accident backed up traffic this afternoon, and according to one witness, the driver responsible tried to flee the scene.

One victim says the man responsible was driving in the middle lanes when he hit two cars and then proceeded to hit a third.

"The car came racing down the road around 50 miles-per-hour, hit two Toyotas and then backed into my car. Then he looked like he was trying to get away. When I approached the car, I got the seat belt and kind of held him in there. The police then told me that wasn't very smart to do but that was the first reaction," said Oscar Pinilla.

Pinilla says that the driver didn't seem coherent but eventually came around. According to police one person was transported to the hospital.

Journalism Tip

It's proper journalism to include WHERE an event ocurred that warranted being in the News. I'm just sayin'...but if you take this simple suggestion you'll go futher in your career reporting the news.

I guess it never crossed Ms.

I guess it never crossed Ms. Rupa's untrained mind to answer the first question in this article - Where? No mention of roads, location or even a general region of town, which renders this piece useless and pointless.

Ms. Rupa gets an "F" for the day in news "writing."
