WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Folks in the Cape Fear are raising money for children's cancer research that's different than most fundraisers; and in return, they end up with a new look.

The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a national organization that raises awareness and funding for childhood cancer research, and volunteers show their support by shaving their head.

Supporters in our area are bringing the head-shaving challenge to Wilmington, and one volunteer kicked it all off by shaving his head live on Good Morning Carolina.

Justin Thuesen wanted to raise awareness and make a statement for viewers, and says he is looking forward to more supporters getting involved this weekend at the head-shaving event he and hairdresser Gerry Taylor helped organize.

The Wilmington fundraising event will be held on Saturday at 10 p.m., at The Toolbox on Burnett Blvd. Watch the full interview with Randy Aldridge, Gerry Taylor, and the brave Justin Thuesen, to learn more.
