WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington business got quite a surprise today when a deer crashed through its front window.

Around noon today, employees and customers at the Plant Place on Market Sstreet heard a loud bang followed by the sound of breaking glass and merchandise. The buck stopped halfway in the window but then fled on hoof.

"My first reactions were you've got to be kidding me! A deer on Market Street coming off of Market Street with that much force hitting a window and breaking it? It was shocking," Plant Place owner Bobbie Edwards said.

It's not clear why the deer charged the shop, but the employees believe the deer might have been spooked by his reflection in the window.

First, it’s drivers hitting the accelerator instead of the brakes…now Deer? Was it on meds or not?
Remember…it takes Big Bucks to make a little Doe in today’s world…busting out glass or not!
Was this an undercover “Sting Op Gone Wrong too”?

Could have been worse. There was a car that crashed into the drive-thru at Wendy’s in Shallotte. I have heard that an employee received a concussion during the crash.
