GREENSBORO, NC (RHINOTIMES.COM) — The Guilford County Board of Commissioners is expected to name longtime Brunswick County Manager Marty Lawing as Guilford County’s new manager according to the Greensboro Rhino Times.

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners had hoped to cap the pay of the next manager at $175,000, but a source familiar with the talks between the county and Lawing said Guilford County is expected to pay Lawing about $183,000 a year, which is likely to include a car allowance.

Lawing will be making about the same amount Fox was when she stepped down. Fox was making $183,200 a year.

To the idiot who submitted his comment on 3/16/2013. You apparently know nothing about running a government agency. Old Marty as you refer brought back integrity and professionalism to the County, increased revenue, didn’t raise taxes and kept people from losing their jobs. As for inflated property value skyrocketing, show me where that didn’t happen all of America. You better be praying they get someone in that can do half the job he did. Adios, dumb ass

What a negative and error laden response. Wish him luck because he will have his hands full in Guilford. BTW Property values are not the fault of a county manager.

Good riddance, Lawing hasn;t done anything exceptional for Brunswick county except set back and watch peoples over inflated property values skyrocket, don’t nothing to champion permanent solutions for insurance coverage, electrical rates, beach renourishment and the other day to day things that go on in a county effecting our daily lives, heck, he couldn’t even dispatch the ememergy management guys out to direct traffic on fender benders and keep traffic flowing, adios Old Marty, hopefully we get some relief in this county.
