SURF CITY, NC (NEWS RELEASE) — Cape Fear Community College and Surf City officials are teaming up to spread the word about CFCC’s new campus coming to Surf City.
The college invites the public to attend an information session about its upcoming Alston W. Burke Campus in Surf City on Saturday. The information session will be held at the Surf City Welcome Center (102 N. Shore Drive) from 9:30 a.m.–11 a.m.
Dr. Ted D. Spring, President of Cape Fear Community College, will give a presentation and answer questions about the new campus, which is scheduled to break ground in the late fall of 2013. The Surf City Town Council and Mayor Zander Guy, who is also a member of CFCC’s Board of Trustees, will also attend the meeting and answer questions.
This event is open to the public and the community is encouraged to come ask questions and provide input concerning CFCC’s newest campus. The building design will be on display, and members of CFCC’s faculty and staff will be on hand to answer questions and hear input from the community.
Dr. Ted D. Spring said he is excited about the event.
“Cape Fear Community College is growing rapidly and it’s exciting to take this new step. We look forward to hearing directly from the residents about their hopes for the Alston W. Burke Campus and the programs to be offered there. We’re here for the community, and want to make sure we’re responsive to the needs of the Surf City area,” said Spring.
Architects are currently designing the first building on CFCC’s campus, which will be located on a 24-acre site off on N.C. Hwy 10. The entire budget for construction of the project is set at $2.3 million with funding coming from the Town of Surf City, Pender County and CFCC funds. The property was donated to the college by the late Alston W. Burke in 2008.
Light refreshments and coffee will be served. Please call (910) 362-7207 for more information.
