WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Traffic during what is sure to be a busy St. Patrick's Day weekend may be even busier on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge thanks to a filming project.

The NCDOT says weather permitting, the bridge will have intermittent overnight closures of no more than five minutes at a time on Saturday and Sunday from 7 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. as film crews work on the bridge.

A DOT spokeswoman said the shooting is for "The Remaining," which began shooting in Wilmington last month. She also said during filming the parking lot of the boat ramp near the bridge will be filled with tents to give it the appearance of a military station.

Motorists should plan for extra time crossing the bridge during those nights and use caution in the area.

“A DOT spokeswoman did not know what was filming”…..

It is a film about how much the bridge is shut down so much…DOT.
St. Patty’s weekend just seemed like an opportune time, as the film’s producer figured the bridge would malfunction as Murphy’s Law would have it doing so…at that time.

It will be shut down for 5 minutes at a time after midnight. You’ll survive.

I didn’t realize 7pm came after midnight. That is a weird clock you have.

Even though it is posted here, there are no signs up warning of traffic stoppages on the bridge, only a police officer standing on the side stopping traffic. My husband just got rear ended by someone who could not stop quick enough, and the police officer almost got hit due to poor visibility. Use caution!!!
