CALABASH, NC (WWAY) — An early-morning fire in Calabash destroyed a strip mall on Carter Drive.

Firefighters got the call at 12:20 a.m. They arrived on scene a few minutes later, but flames were already shooting through the roof of 947 Bistro & Pub (formerly known as Nesbitt’s Bar and Grill), and spread quickly to other adjoining businesses, which include Head Hunter Barber Shop, Calabash Florist and Reflections Stained Glass.

Firefighters from Sunset Sunset Beach and Grissettown helped crews from Calabash, but the small block of businesses was a total loss, firefighters said. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.
