WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Fire investigators believe arson is to blame for a fire that destroyed a Wilmington Police Department van over the weekend.

The Wilmington Fire Department responded to a fully-involved minivan fire around 4 a.m. Sunday at the New Hanover County Senior Center at Shipyard Blvd. and S. College Rd. The van belongs to the Wilmington Police Department and was used by the department’s narcotics unit.

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set. A WFD report says flammable liquids were involved.

Wilmington Police are investigating.

Drug enforcement van left out in open. Come on man, what makes you think some dope heads arent gonna take advantage of that and retaliate. Way to take care of the city (our) property. Park it in a safer location next time.
