WILMINGTON, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — Wilmington International Airport is adding a third nonstop flight to New York City, at least for the summer.

Delta will add a seasonal early afternoon flight to LaGuardia Airport beginning April 8 and possibly lasting until October, Jon Rosborough, the airport’s executive director, said Tuesday.

Ridership on the two existing flights to New York is about 64 percent, lower than airport officials would like, and they are optimistic that the additional flight will help draw more travelers.

Maybe this will help stimulate the housing market here…again ;-)
Why not a flight to (i.e.) Dallas/Miami or St.Louis…or etc?

great to see good things happening at ILM! The past few years I have found travel to NY, Atlanta,Ft. Lauderdale and Detroit very easy and less expensive out of Myrtle Beach on Spirit. I wish ILM could support a discount carrier. I don’t find Delta service any better at a higher price. I find Spirit to be on time, planes full, and maybe I’m lucky but never had a bad experience with them.

64% is a money losing flight so I would think they’d have to cut these flights unless overall air travel out of ILM picks up.
Trying the third flight is interesting, but may be the straw that broke the camels back so to speak.
