CARTERET COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A weekend road rage incident in Carteret County led to a fight between the drivers involved and ended with one of the men firing shots, investigators say. It was all caught on camera, and it landed two people behind bars.
Carteret County Sheriff's deputies responded to the area of US 70 and English Street in Newport around 1 p.m. yesterday.
Investigators were looking for information about a family of three, including the driver, a female passenger and a toddler, who they say left the scene after the driver allegedly fired several rounds at the other vehicle. The Sheriff's Office released a video of part of the incident that shows the driver of a SUV confronting the driver of a truck and throwing a punch. That's when two men jump out of the truck and attack the other driver.
As the fight ends, the female passenger hands the driver what appears to be a small gun. What sounds like a gun shot, though, does not match the action of the video. Investigators the video only shows a small portion of the incident and does not show the suspect shooting into the truck.
Releasing the video worked. The two suspects, Bradley Turner and Christy Turner, turned themselves into the sheriff's office Monday afternoon. Bradley Turner faces several charges including discharging a weapon into property and two counts of assault by pointing a gun. Christy was charged with two counts of assault by pointing a gun. The suspects had since bonded out of jail.
