BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Leland man is in jail accused of assaulting a handicapped person during a home break-in.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies arrested James Daniel Watson Jr., 26, Friday. He’s charged with burglary, larceny and assault on a handicapped person.

Investigators say between midnight and 3 a.m. Friday Watson broke into a home on Maco Road and stole about $600, credit cards and cigarettes. He also hit the victim on the side of the head.

Watson is in the Brunswick County jail under a $62,500 secured bond.

I sure would like for someone to post the magistrate that set that bail?
Thats just an insult. Might as well jut turn the bum loose. who ever he attacked needed to welcome him inside his home with a load of buckshot for his trouble.

You don’t get any lower than this scumbag to assault and steal from a handicapped person. Too bad the victim didn’t have some protection on hand to put this thug away for good.

This is the kind of guy I enjoy reading about in the obits!
