GARNER, NC (AP) — The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a student has been struck and killed at a school bus stop near Garner.

Wake County school spokeswoman Renee McCoy says a female student was hit by another vehicle as she tried to cross the road as the bus neared the stop shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday.

The student’s name has not been released.

The bus was headed to Garner High School.

Another bus was called to the scene to take students on the bus to school.
