MINT HILL, N.C. (AP) – A Mint Hill man is facing felony charges for allegedly promising tickets to the Duke-North Carolina basketball game, the Masters golf tournament and a concert to his coworkers for advance payment of nearly $3,500.
Authorities say 29-year-old Jason Eric Richardson is jailed in Lincoln County on six felony counts of obtaining property by false pretenses. Investigators say Richardson claimed to be raising money for the American Cancer Society.
Police said the incidents occurred between Jan. 1 and the beginning of March.
Richardson turned himself into police on Monday.
He was being held Tuesday on $30,000 bond. It’s not known if Richardson has an attorney.
