WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Easter may not be until Sunday, but that didn’t stop a lot of people from heading to the Easter Egg Hunt Carnival at the Battleship Memorial today. People came from near and far to be there.
Lots of games, petting zoos, sack races and pony rides to be found at the day full of fun. Boat rides, funnel cakes and bounce houses were all a part of the carnival and several different egg hunts for kids of all ages.
The event also offered a slower paced egg hunt for kids with special needs or children who need a slower environment.
Program Director Danielle Wallace says they found a way for kids to hunt all day if they want to.
“Well, today is our 6th annual Easter egg hunt and we’ve actually expanded it to be more like a carnival. That’s why we call it the Easter Egg Hunt Carnival now, so there are hunts going on continuously,” Wallace said.
Wallace says last year more than 1,600 people attended and this year was no disappointment either.
Easter festivities on the Riverfront don’t stop there. Wilmington Water Tours is hosting a Doggie Eater Bonnet Parade on Saturday. It gets started at 11:00 a.m. on the Riverwalk.
