HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — South Topsail Elementary’s principal is getting statewide recognition. AnnaMaria Romero-Lehrer is the North Carolina Association of Educators’ Principal of the Year.

She received the award for her dedication and passion to help the students at South Topsail Elementary.

“I was excited today,” Romero-Lehrer said. “My staff and my students came together for a really beautiful celebration, and it’s an honor and it’s a wonderful thing to have happen. I’m going to be able to ride this for a few weeks.”

The NCAE Principal of the Year Award is given annually by the Principals and Administrators Division of the North Carolina Association of Educators.

This award goes out to a wonderful, caring, life-long educator. I have known and worked with Anna for more than 15 years, and I know first-hand that she is truly a role model for all in education. I am so excited she is receiving recognition for the hard work and dedication she has for the profession!
