WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have released the name of an officer injured in a traffic crash Wednesday night.

WPD says the officer was Sgt. Matthew Malone. Investigators say he was driving a marked police car when a car spun out of control and hit him near 3rd and Greenfield streets.

Four people including Malone went to the hospital. They were all released a few hours later. No one was seriously hurt.

First off my condolences go out to Sgt.Malone and his family. Thanks to all the firs responders. Second my condolences go out toall the others in this accident. And theyare leaves mg out two passangers a twenty three year old female and her two and a half week old baby both of Wichita are fine they didn’t even sustain minor injury.
