NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — New Hanover County joined with its neighboring counties and county seat Monday night in asking the federal government to reverse a recent change that designated Brunswick County as part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area.

The board of commissioners voted unanimously to pass a resolution asking federal officials to return Brunswick County to Wilmington’s metropolitan area.

Brunswick County, Pender County and the City of Wilmington have all already passed similar resolutions.

This is a case where splitting the baby make sense.

It does make sense. Leland people and maybe some in the Southport/Oak Island area prefer to go to Wilmington, but most of the rest of us prefer to go to Myrtle Beach. My family and I go to Wilmington to see family. We also go there for medical care because of insurance, but when we go out we go to Myrtle Beach.

Maybe they should put Myrtle Beach in Wilmington’s MSA? LOL
…too bad Saffo couldn’t try to annex Myrtle Beach too.
