NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Progress Energy crews say power should now be restored for over 6,000 customers that experienced outages in the northern part of New Hanover County Tuesday morning.

Progress Energy crews say power was restored just after 8 a.m., after less than an hour.

The outage took out power at traffic lights, residencies, businesses, and schools.

Dispatchers say areas affected include North College Road, Blue Clay Road, Castle Hayne Road, Parmele Road, Longview Road, N. Kerr Avenue, Holly Shelter Road, and areas of North Chase.

Dispatchers say a brush fire reported on Blue Clay Road may have been caused by a blown transformer, but no word on whether the fire is connected to the outages.
