WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One person has been shot and two more injured in a shooting on Clay Street in Wilmington.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. on the 400 block of Clay Street.

Police said they were responding to reports of guns shots fired in the area and found a green SUV leaving the scene.

Police pulled the vehicle over and discovered one of the victims in the car.

That victim was transported by EMS to New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Police then identified two other men who had sustained superficial gunshot wounds.

The second victim was transported to the hospital, and a third victim showed up at the hospital on his own.

None of the victims’ wounds appear to be life-threatening.

Police say the investigation is in a very preliminary stage at this point.
