SUNSET BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Sunset Beach has fired a police officer who was under investigation after issues about testimony he gave during a recent court case.

According to a termination letter, Police Chief Lisa Massey fired Jamie Clemmons Wednesday. The letter says the termination is because Clemmons violated town and department policies, including standard of conduct, truthfulness, departmental reports and preparation for court.

Massey’s letter says testimony Clemmons gave in superior court last month during a woman’s appeal of a DWI conviction in district court included a DWI report with information different from the one he presented in district court.

Clemmons can appeal his termination.

Is anyone sensing the trend here. So many stories the last year or so about corrupt cops. This doesn’t even count all of the things we will never even hear or know about. People always say about 10% of every group will have bad apples. I would put that number a tad higher for law enforcement. Probably due to the lack of education really needed to obtain a job on the city or county level.

A sad day for DWI, Inc. to say the least. How many other cases are going to be dismissed because of this rogue’s actions???

Must be a misunderstanding…I know Jamie.e is a good, cop & friend. And he goes by the rules as far as I know. Im sure this one will work its self out. This one sounds a little fishy To me..

Good. I don’t have to worry about crossing paths with him when I leave my house.
