WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Tomorrow Wilmington’s Verizon Wireless Call Center will host its annual Electronics Recycling Rally.

Everything Verizon collects is sent to recyclers who dispose of the items and has zero effect on landfills.

Wilmington is one of many communities to participate in Verizon’s event, and leads the nation in both turnout and tonnage.

“We started back in November of 2009, and we’ve collected 1.9 million pounds of e-waste at the events,” Verizon Wireless Sustainability Group’s John Dorn said. “Wilmington is the biggest event we’ve had to date. Last year we collected over 86,000 pounds at the one event here alone.”

If you would like to drop off your used electronics, you can drop by the Verizon Call Center parking lot off of Converse Road in Wilmington between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. tomorrow.
