MYRTLE BEACH, SC (UNCW) -– Will Remillard drove in five runs on two doubles and a triple as Coastal Carolina routed UNCW, 15-3, in college baseball action on Tuesday at Pelicans Park. The Chanticleers, who extended their winning streak to six, earned a split of the home and home series with the Seahawks and improved to 33-18. The Seahawks, meanwhile, dropped to 36-17 with the non-conference road loss. CCU starter Tyler Herb (5-1) picked up the win in a predetermined start. Herb struck out five over two shutout innings. It was his first start since April 7.

UNCW starter Nick Monroe (0-1) suffered the loss in his collegiate starting debut. He allowed five runs, two earned, on two hits and three walks over two and 1/3 innings. Jacob May and Connor Owings both had two hits and knocked in two runs. Andy Austin and Corey Dick had two hits apiece for the Seahawks.

Up next: The Seahawks close out the regular season this weekend with a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series at Hofstra. The series opens with a doubleheader on May 17 beginning at noon.

How it happened: Leading 2-0, Coastal Carolina took advantage of poor defense and pitching to plate seven runs in the third inning to take a commanding 9-0 lead. Jacob May knocked in two runs with a bases loaded single and Oberg added a RBI single of his own to highlight the inning.

Inside the numbers: UNCW went 0-fo-10 with RISP, but landed the leadoff hitter on base in 4-of-9 innings … 24 Seahawks saw action in tonight’s game, including nine pitchers … Coastal Carolina advanced runners in 22-of-34 opportunities and went 7-for-19 with RISP.

Notes: Terence Connelly and Matt Keeler extended their on-base streaks to 23 and 15 games, respectively … Ryan LaGrange pushed his hitting streak to a modest four games with a seventh-inning single … UNCW finished non-conference play with a 19-11 record.
