NC officials: Inmate disappeared from work release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities are searching for an inmate at Lincoln Correctional Center who disappeared from a work release program.

The N.C. Department of Corrections said 38-year-old Ronald Billings was last seen around 2:45 p.m. Thursday at a work location in Lincolnton.

Officials said Billings was serving a seven-year prison sentence for breaking and entering, forgery and other property crimes. His projected release date is February 2015.

Billings has ties to Morganton and Alleghany County, as well as out of state.

The department said anyone who has seen Billings, or has information regarding his whereabouts, is asked to call local police or Lincoln Correctional Center at 704-735-0485.
