WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A trial date has been set for a Bladen County man and former Wilmington firefighter jailed in Virginia on sex crimes allegations.

The Fairfax Circuit Court Clerk’s Office says Robert Hester will go to trial July 8. The clerk’s office says a grand jury indicted Hester on two counts of inanimate object sexual penetration and one count of abduction with intent to defile.

Police in Virginia arrested the Elizabethtown man in March after an incident at a hotel March 19 involving a woman investigators say Hester knew.

The Wilmington Fire Department fired Hester April 15, because he is still in custody and cannot return to work. Hester has reportedly appealed his termination.
