WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — GE Foundation presented a surprise check for $175,000 to New Hanover Community Health Center. The grant money is a part of GE’s Developing Health effort in support of providing quality healthcare to underserved residents.

“This donation was huge. It was absolutely huge for us because we want to continue to provide services for the uninsured and the underinsured so it was a major event for us today,” New Hanover Community Health Center CEO Aganette Young said.

Developing Health is a three-year, $25 mil program created by the GE Foundation, the company’s philanthropic arm.

Sort of sounds like a whiney-butt set of remarks from someone that couldn’t get employment there. Sorry Shotgun, but it just so happens that GE is not only one of the largest contibutors to the needy in this area, they also happen to be one of the best, most reliable and largest employers in the area.

Why is it that nay-sayers like you always try to knock down a good thing?

The check was probably for their New Hanover County back taxes on the Castle Hayne property, in exchange. They just made it look like a donation.
Now they have cut wages in half there (yes half) and no retirement bennies for new hires, they can afford the extra giveaway.

….my last project for this company was the Boeing 787 Dreamliner engine prototype, and have worked on the Stealth projects (early 90’s) over the years until retirement.
So Mr. Whiney-Butt…one whom is off their meds…I served my 25 years with this company in front/behind the scenes and I’ve seen all there is to be seen from the inside, as you looked from the outside dreaming of calling it your job from within. Or maybe you are one of the upper tier that mismanaged so much there since 1980…are you? Jealous perhaps?
Wash your mouth out next time before you splatter CRAP into the oncoming wind…just to have it come back to cover your face…Guest-o-matic.
You are an authority on so much…but know absolutely nothing ;-)

I believe you might want to read GOM’s post again.

He was positively effusive with praise about GE.
He was talking to the original poster about “HIS” whiney-butt…

I agreed with Guest Shogun…and in their defense…because GOM’s comments sound like a whiney 10 year kid him/herself. Guest Shogun’s comments are “the norm” of many long term employee there…believe me.
GE “has cut wages and benefits” as Guest Shogun implies…in compliance to a structured competitiveness in the business world. Or so they say.
Gets them what they want…every time :-(
