CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (AP) – Alex Swim capped a three-run rally with a tiebreaking, two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning Sunday, lifting Elon to a 6-4 victory against UNC-Wilmington and into the championship round of the Charlottesville Regional.

The Phoenix (34-29) beat the Seahawks for the second time this weekend after twice losing to them in the regular season.

Danny Lynch walked with two outs, stole second and scored on Chris Bresnahan’s single. After Quinn Bower also singled, Swim greeted reliever Kelly Secrest with a single to center.

Ryan Pennell (3-2) worked two scoreless innings for the Phoenix, retiring the side in order in the ninth.

Elon advanced to play unbeaten Virginia, the No. 6 national seed, later Sunday night.

Justin Livengood, who gave up two singles just in front of Secrest, took the loss.

Terence Connelly drove in two runs for the Seahawks.
