WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County’s Public Library was honored by the Downtown Rotary Club today.

Library Director Harry Tuchmayer accepted the Fran C. Young Community Recognition Award and a $1,000 donation for the library.

The community recognition award annually honors organizations, groups or entities judged to be integral to the quality of life of the Wilmington community.

“It means a lot to the library,” Tuchmayer said. “The library is a anchor institution, and the services we provide to the community we think are important, and it’s nice to know an important club like the Rotary Club thinks the same thing.”

The award honors Fran Young, a member of the Rotary Club from 1990 until her death in April 2012.

Here in town is a jewel.
They stay on top of technology and allow for downloading books on ereaders.
This is one are of government that is truly a COST to taxpayers but well worth the money spent.
