motorcycle riders

When are the 5 law enforcement agency's in the tri-county area going to enforce the laws regarding motorcycles with either illegal or no mufflers. These motorcycle riders are rude obnoxious people, I travel all up & down the east coast and the only place that motorcycle riders get away with illegal or no mufflers is right here in Wilmington. At least 95% of all motorcycles in Wilmington have illegal or no mufflers. The are 2 in my neighborhood, what they don't realize is all of the other people in the neighborhood hate them because they do not wish to hear this noise.

If you weave in and out of

If you weave in and out of traffic like most young inexperienced riders in this town do you will meet your maker eventually.

It seems that the motorcycle

It seems that the motorcycle accidents in this area over the last several years have been caused by the other driver. It doesn't cost but a few seconds out of someone's time to stop and make sure it is safe to proceed out of an intersection or median. Your selfishness in not stopping, could easily kill someone.

On a separate note, I was travelling north on Hwy 17 in Brunswick County this morning when I saw a moron pull out in front of an 18-wheeler. Those rigs carry up to about 44,000 pounds in addition to the weight of the rig itself. Those things cannot stop on a dime and you are an outright idiot, taking in your hands, your life, the lives of your passengers, the life of the truck driver and the lives of others on the road. In your selfish rush to save a few seconds, you could have killed an untold number of people.

Impatient drivers. Can't take the time to stop and look.

I'm surprised we don't read about accidents like this every day. Nobody stops at stop signs anymore, they roll right through them with that cell phone stuck in their ear! An officer could write tickets all day long at virtually any intersection just for citing people that do not come to a stop as required.

Stupid and short-sided

First, your exaggeration is ridiculous and therefore IMMEDIATELY calls your statements into question. If NOBODY stops at stop signs anymore, there would be accidents at every single intersection everywhere, every minute of every day.

Second, yes, an officer could be posted at a stop sign all day. However, is that REALLY the only issue here? If you take an officer off of street patrol so he/she can stop enforcing ALL LAWS in favor of trying to enforce Failure to come to a complete stop, that officer isn't replaced. It means there's ONE LESS OFFICER PATROLLING THE STREETS FOR ALL SORTS OF CRIMES. Oh. Yes. Woo. Hoo. Because policing stop signs tales precedence over responding to domestic disputes...shootings...stabbings...robberies...etc.

The city's budget does NOT include provisions to hire more police officers, so YES, putting an officer on stop sign detail will require taking that officer off of patrol.

Additionally, does the burden of assessed blame fall to the police? I'll give you a hint: NO. Why? Simple: If people would stop driving like idiots and blind jaguars, would there be an issue about running stop signs? NO. The burden of responsibility lies ONLY with those who choose to break traffic laws.

You want some Cheese to go with that whine?

Sorry to push you so far over the edge, but perhaps your forgot your meds today. Hopefully, you'll be okay.

Your last paragraph basically summed up my previously made point in a round-about manner. The careless and impatient tactics used by drivers frequently cause accidents of this nature.

You are correct.

Until the police in this city start enforcing the law things like this will continue to happen.
