BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Brunswick County Resident Superior Court Judge Ola Lewis plans to run for the North Carolina Supreme Court. Lewis tells WWAY NewsChannel 3 she announced her candidacy earlier this month at the NCGOP Convention.

State Board of Elections records show Lewis filed paperwork to form a campaign committee June 11.

Lewis says her candidacy may be why she will appear on tonight’s edition of “Hannity” on Fox News. Judge Lewis is part of a town hall discussion about being black and Republican, she told WWAY NewsChannel 3.

Lewis said she had a front-row seat for the discussion. It included topics like whether President Obama has helped or hurt black America and “What we as a people can do to get more blacks into the GOP,” she said.

Lewis described the show as “heated and spirited.” She said the show includes some “big names,” including Oklahoma Speaker of the House T.W. Shannon, authors and TV personalities.

republicans are like snakes only good ones are the dead one i hate republicans i love to see them drop dean

  • Hayden Soloway says:

I hear many Democrats and liberals say they hate Republicans, and, likewise, there are Republicans who “hate” Democrats. A friend of mine did a showing of hands one night in a crowded bar and found that both Democrats and Republicans could agree on 80% of the issues. There are misconceptions on the part of both Dems. and Repubs. which I believe are perpetuated by media but sometimes can be dispelled by honest and thoughtful, rather than angry, conversation. My question to you is what issues you disagree with Republicans on. Rather than saying you hate Republicans, could you begin by educating me on what you feel we disagree that generates such an emotion as “hate”? Thanks for your time and consideration.

If she gets elected, then I wonder if the power will go to her head like it has in the local courts. It should be interesting.

  • Guest123123 says:

Lets be real, all judges at any level are a little power hungry. What the true story should be is what we have is an intelligent, attractive, well educated black female who is a conservative Rep. Im sure they will try to demean her. Others in her race should try to follow in her footsteps and we a country would be a whole lot better off.

I guess this judge forgot she was first a democrat. The democrats helped her get to where she is today. And now shes gonna slam them on t.v. with that uppity Sean Hannity? She is no different that another former Brunswick County commissioner who did the same thing.Shameful how some people use people to get ahead then turn against them.

First of all, Judge Lewis is not a turncoat ! She’s a lady that stands for principles. She holds to those principles regardless of what party agrees. When she first ran to become a Judge, it was the Republican party who endorsed her, and after she was helped by the Republican party, did she decide to switch over. It was because her beliefs and principles matched more with the Republican party than the Democratic party. She’s a true patriot, not a “Turncoat” !
