Finley to stay chairman of NC Utilities Commission

READ MORE:

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - The current chairman of North Carolina's regulatory body for telecommunications, electric and natural gas markets is Gov. Pat McCrory's choice to stay at that post for four more years.

McCrory announced Wednesday he was reappointing Ed Finley of Raleigh as chairman of the state Utilities Commission.

The attorney was first appointed to the commission by Gov. Mike Easley in 2007 and later became chairman. He was reappointed chairman by Gov. Beverly Perdue in 2009 through this June 30. The reappointment will keep him chairman until 2017.

The announcement comes the day after the General Assembly confirmed two new commission members - Rep. Jerry Dockham of Davidson County and James Patterson of Guilford County. Dockham will now step down from the General Assembly.
