WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man who was hit by a car near a Wilmington housing complex pulled a fire alarm to get help early Wednesday morning.

Dispatchers say it happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 4200 block of S. 17th Street.

The man who was hit then pulled an alarm at Bellingham Park Condominiums to call for help.

Police, fire and EMS units all responded to the scene where the fire alarm went off.

The 3:30 A.M. alarm would not have awakened most residents because most of them are awake at this time anyway. Having lived at Bellingham for nearly two years, I had to move out because of the noise.

Noise. Noise. Noise. Footfalls (sounding like drums) at all hours from upstairs neighbors; kids returning from bars at 2 and 3 A.M. and bringing their bar friends back to their condos to party.

The buildings are poorly constructed, and owners are left with condos that are worth half their purchase price, and the HOA does nothing to improve quality of life for residents.

Living at Bellingham was like what I imagine living in the projects to be like.

That was just brilliant! I’m sure more rescue and fire rolled than were necessary for his needs, but ti think that was a great way to get emergency help.

I’m sure the residents of Bellingham Park appreciated the fire alarm going off in their building at 3:30 am. What exactly was this guy doing walking the streets at this hour anyway? Maybe the city of Wilmington needs to enact a curfew to cut down on some of the suspect late-night activity that has been occurring lately.

Not a hit and run. Driver came back to check on cyclist and was told he was fine. Heard the biker was wearing all black. Im so sick of all of them. Just as inconsiderate as the scooter people. Mountain biking is a great sport, no cars to worry about just an occasional tree. Please just get off the road.

Why do these idiots have to ride in the street? The guy killed on Eastwood, sidewalks down the entire length and they ride in the streets anyway. Bicycles do not pay taxes to maintain streets, cars do. Bicyclist cause traffic tieups, police resources and mainly a pain in the ass. At least mopeds riders pay gas tax and wear a helmet!

He had just got off work, to the ridiculous comment that why is he out at that time of night, and he was wearing black because he works in a kitchen and had his chef coat on. The only reason he pulled the alarm because he was injured, he tried waving down cars and knocking on door.

Grown man and he does not even own a basic cell phone to call 911. Geez give me a break
