HOLDEN BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- Holden Beach commissioners have selected a former member to fill an open seat.
Commissioners voted during a special meeting this morning to appoint Ken Kyser to take the place of Ray Lehr, who died earlier this month.
Kyser had previously served as commissioner before resigning in the fall of 2011 as he battled cancer, Mayor Alan Holden said.
Holden said in looking for someone to fill the seat, they looked to someone for whom the learning curve would be short, and that person was Kyser.
The seat Kyser now holds will be up for grabs in the town's election in November.
