WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The fastest-growing wrestling promotion in the southeast will be at the National Guard Armory in Wilmington for its eighth show Saturday. Organizers said UPWA’s ‘Summer Showdown 2013: Where it all began’ will be an action-packed show.

Heavyweight Champion Pete Nixon will defend the title against the diabolical Sinister.

Nixon was facing Carolinas Champion Shaheem Ali on May 11 in Shallotte when Sinister emerged from underneath the ring and repeatedly caned the champion in the head.

So, Sinister issued a challenge for Nixon to defend the title against him on the anniversary show. Sinister accepted the challenge.

Ali must also defend against NWA/WWF/WCW Legend, The Barbarian.

After competing in every top-level organization during his nearly 33-year career, organizers say The Barbarian poses the biggest threat so far to Ali’s championship reign.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door or $10 in advance. Children are free with a paying adult and are available at www.theupwa.com or at the door.

I can promise you this show isn’t worth the $15 you will pay at the door or even the $10 in advanced. the man running this nothing but a lair and never pays out to the hard working guys who come from all over to entertain.

Having watched their 2 hour show at the 4th of July Festival in Southport yesterday, I highly recommend seeing this. That’s the hardest I’ve laughed in a long time. Great entertainment!

Don’t waste your money on this “crap”. The talent sucks and the guy running the show treats his guys like crap and does not pay them.

i’m sure whoever went to the show was disappointed. I know several guys who now refuse to work for the “man” who runs this particular company and they never got paid.
