WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some Wilmington Police officers on foot patrol found a potentially dangerous situation when they got to their car Friday night.

A WPD spokeswoman says when officers returned to the cruiser at 408 S. 10th Street just before 9 p.m. Friday, they found the gas tank open and fireworks on the trunk and gas cap. She described the incident as malicious use of explosives.

The department’s bomb squad came out to make sure everything was OK.

Police say there was no damage and no one was hurt.

…with nothing achieved. Would’ve been more appropriate to put a half eaten box of Krispy Kreme donuts on the hood!

You would have been breaking the law, and not a cop for long! simple as that!

If I had been the cop, I would have tossed the fireworks in the back floor and took them home with me and set them off. Guess calling the bomb squad and creating a news story is a much more dramatic approach to the situation than the common sense one. I would be ashamed for this story to get out. I guess if a dog were to tinkle on a cruiser’s tire, that they would call a hazmat team.

You do know where your fireworks go when the po-po takes them away from you right? Straight to their backyard with their other drunk po-po friends!

Oh, Jeez…one of them………and cops don’t ever break the laws they enforce? How about driving 70 in a 55 zone with no lights/siren. Don’t guess you have ever seen this? How about texting and driving? How about all the other escapades they engage in and are always found to have acted appropriately? I really don’t think setting off a few bottle rockets or whatever they found would cost anybody his job.
