Man accused of molesting girl at Gaston park

GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) - A Bessemer City man is jailed under $1 million bond after police said he sexually molested a 9-year-old girl at a Gastonia park.

Gastonia Police say 51-year-old David Glenn Scott is charged with two counts of first-degree sex offense and six counts of indecent liberties with a child. Authorities said the incidents occurred between Feb. 1 and June 20.

Police Sgt. Gene Weaver said Scott knew the girl from church and was trusted. Weaver also said Scott cooperated with the investigation.

Gastonia attorney Richard Beam is representing Scott, and he declined to comment Tuesday, saying he'd just taken the case.
