CFPUA names interim CEO

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has named Jim Flechtner Interim Chief Executive Officer effective immediately. Flechtner is CFPUA's Deputy CEO and Chief Operations Officer. He follows Matt Jordan, who retired last month and took a job in Florida.

The CFPUA Board of Directors also announced that its Human Resources committee will serve as the executive search committee and that CFPUA will use an executive search firm to aid in its selection of a new chief executive officer. The board has not yet hired a search firm.

Flechtner has worked at CFPUA since its inception in 2008. He came to CFPUA from the City of Wilmington, where he managed many large capital improvement projects involving streets, drainage, utilities and other public infrastructure. Flechtner was named CFPUA's Deputy CEO and Chief Operations Officer in October 2011. He has been involved with the authority's strategic planning and associated long-term capital improvement budgeting.

Flechtner holds an undergraduate degree from UNC Charlotte and a Master of Business Administration degree from UNC Wilmington. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer and a member of American Society of Civil Engineers.
