OAK ISLAND, NC (StarNewsOnline.com) — Oak Island council members voted unanimously Tuesday to charge residents $5 for parking decals that allow access to resident-only parking spots.

The town recently discontinued its hurricane parking decal re-entry stickers that doubled as resident-only parking stickers. The decals will be issued through the town’s collections department, and will be available for purchase in the next couple of weeks, said Town Manager Steve Foster.

The current hurricane decals will be valid until Dec. 31, and the new stickers will be valid from the time they are issued through Sept. 30, 2015.

just another tax from city council. property taxes are extremely expensive in Brunswick and OKI. What exactly does property owners get for the tax fees? hopefully more than $95.00 water bills, and sewer fees of $576.00 for vacant undeveloped lots per year. (forgot, these fees will increase too next year)
