WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- If you write down what you eat, you're much more likely to lose weight. Nowadays, you don't have to carry around a journal to do that. There are plenty of websites where you can log in and type up a more fit and healthy you.
"I come from a Hispanic background and most of my family is actually obese and overweight. So, I chose the lifestyle in the opposite direction," said Carly Horrell, the efitsite spokeswoman.
That steered her right into her fitness addiction.
"Competing pretty much became my life and since then I haven't been able to stop," Horrell said.
It's constant maintenance and improvement on her body, Horrell said she can't do without cardio, weight training and especially diet.
"I still have to track all my foods, all my exercise activities so I know how much I'm burning."
She does that by using efitsite. It's a Wilmington-based website that Eric Crouse created.
"We built this site based around the premise that dieting is really hard," Crouse said.
But, Crouse said it can be really easy if you right down what you eat and how much you exercise.
"If you journal your food, you're five times more likely to reach your weight-loss goal and studies show you lose twice as much weight," Crouse said.
On efitsite, and many others like it, you log in and enter your weight, age and goal weight. Then, you put in your foods and exercises for each day.
"It only takes minutes a day to get all your foods in and all of your exercises in," Crouse said.
After that, the site shows you exactly how many calories, proteins, carbs and fats you took in.
"If you think about it in these terms, when you were driving down the road and you had no idea how fast you were going, you'd get a lot of speeding tickets. It's the same thing with dieting," Crouse said.
While driving your body on the road to a new you, Horrell has one last direction.
"For e fit site to work, you have to be consistent," Horrell said.
